UNDERSTANDING THE THEME...
The 2024 Met Gala will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties : Reawakening Fashion” and the official dress code is “The Garden of Time.” Inspired by J.G. Ballard's short story of the same title, written in 1962, it can be interpreted in a myriad of ways. Given the obvious references to the natural world, we can expect to see plenty of floral motifs in this year's red-carpet looks, while we may also see some guests stray towards the darker end of the spectrum, embracing the sense of transience made evident in the theme.
FLORALS? FOR SPRING? GROUNDBREAKING...
This years theme has one saying stuck In our head. Like the great Miranda Preasley once said “Florals? ... For Spring? ... Ground breaking...”
Will we be seeing literal odes to Garden culture or do you think designer and celebrity alike will bring new meaning to the world of florals?
